It's not always about the hair...

Most would think  my job is about the love of doing hair...but it's not.

It's about making people comfortable and confident on the inside by making them beautiful on the outside. I have truly been blessed by meeting so many amazing people that enhance my life every day. So when I hear things like below, it makes what I do each day so rewarding and so worth it. Thank you so much Dawn...

"I haven't had a bad haircut in 5 years.

That's because that is how long I have been a guest of Jalena at Blonde and Beyond.

I change my style a lot. I have done it all: short, long, medium and everything in-between and pretty much every color you can imagine. I used to have to bring tons of pictures and be sure to really bring the fact home that, yes, I do want my long hair cut to a pixie cut and then dyed blonde from black. Don't try to talk me out of it. Since I have been going to Jalena whatever outlandish idea I come up with she delivers with precision and perfection. She knows my hair and what it can and cannot do and above all she knows my style and my way of life and incorporates that. I don't even have to bring a picture anymore, she knows what works. I walk out of the salon feeling beautiful and confident no matter what my mood was when I walked in.

I have gone to her to do my hair for my sister's wedding. She gave my daughter her first haircut. We have gone through pregnancy's together. I trust her, know her ability, and consider her my friend. It is more than just a career for her which makes it more than just a haircut for me. I am a customer for life." -

"If there is one thing that I am very passionate about it is my skin. You can say I am a little obsessed about the subject. I really can't help it, I am a nerd when it comes to skin care. Since I have been employed by Aerial, my true love has been with two product lines; Repechage Skin Care and YoungBlood Mineral Cosmetics. Repechage is a Skin Care line founded in the 1980's by Lydia Sarfati, who is known as "The Queen of Seaweed". Yes, you guessed it! The Skin Care is based on Seaweed. There is a life force that comes from the sea. Repechage was one of the first skincare company to bring seaweed-based products to fruition. Seaweed facials and body treatments are based on traditions of European Thalassotherapy to rebalance and hydrate the skin. Repechage products contain the most energizing form of seaweed. Repechage seaweed is harvested by divers, and utilizes a unique microburst process to preserve the whole plant and its purity. This natural source of beauty is enriched in vitamins, minerals, amino acids and proteins. The products in the Repechage line are the most scientifically advanced. This creates the highest benefit from the most life-affirming source. This is Innovative SkinCare. YoungBlood Mineral Cosmetics was founded by Pauline YoungBlood Soli. The makeup is Amazing! It is formulated from 100% pure minerals. The cosmetic line won't block pores or cause irritation. The products are cruelty-free and don't contain perfumes, alcohol, talic or petroleum dyes. YoungBlood mineral cosmetics is sought after the world's most prestigious med-spas and skincare clinics. The natural pigmets are high-performace, water- resistant and non-comedogenic. It provides sun-protective properties with less shimmer and offering a healthy glow. The ultra-fine, luxurious cosmetics creates the flawless, natural look women have always coveted. Please come join me for coffee at Blonde and Beyond Saturday morning to discuss the great benefits of these two lines. I will demonstrate the basics techniques of washing your skin and mini at home facial. Washing your skin is extemely important when it comes to taking care of it. The technique of doing a mini home facial will help the anti-aging process of your skin. Along with this, I will be demonstrating new trendy makeup techniques and how to conceal any problem area on your skin. Also, this would be a great opportunity to ask any questions you might have regarding skincare or cosmetics. I am very excited to talk about the products that I love dearly and to meet people who would be interested in learning about the benefits of Seaweed SkinCare and Mineral Cosmetics."

Haute Chocolate Anyone?

Going au natural is in—and we’re not talking about running around in your birthday suit! Maybe it’s a sign of the times, or maybe more women are embracing the looks that their mammas gave them, but we couldn’t help but notice that on the Golden Globes and SAG Awards red carpets, many of Hollywood’s leading ladies donned haircolor hues much closer to their natural shades. A lot of celebs have been returning to more natural haircolors. Kate Hudson’s color is a nice golden blonde with lighter, brighter pieces around her face only. Hollywood brunettes and redheads are becoming less high-maintenance, too. I’m seeing a lot of darker chocolate browns, like on Tina Fey. For your redheads, take a cue from Amy Adams, whose color is always rich and vibrant, but still low-key. The trick to fabulous-looking haircolor is lots of shine...

Enter....Blonde & Beyond's Paul Mitchell PM SHINES®! Adeposit-only, ammonia-free demi-permanent hair color that features exclusive Intense Hydrating Complex (IHC) that penetrates deep into the hair shaft. PM SHINES adds intense hydration and brilliant shine while delivering true-to-tone color. Its gentle formula contains a unique conditioning agent derived from meadowfoam seed that provides exceptional shine and condition with long-lasting, healthy-looking results. You may wonder how we get all that shine? The gentle formula coupled with a unique conditioning agent derived from meadowfoam seed penetrates into the hair shaft to help repair damage and intensify surface shine. Long-Lasting color created by an ammonia-free formula that imparts less structural damage to the hair, providing a smoother, healthier surface. UV absorbers help reduce environmental damage and keep color from fading.Soy protein adds strength and shine, improves manageability, and enhances hair texture.

What fun is going to salon if you don't have options? We know you have a choice and we thank you for choosing Blonde & Beyond :)
