"What's Up With Blonde & Beyond?"
The salon at 315 N. Third St. in Wausau recently completed its latest addition. Called The Wash House, it's a secluded area at the back of the salon, where customers can relax and enjoy shampoo treatments, complete with hot-towel service, a shoulder massage and mini-facials.
The room's subdued, earth tones and mellow jazz music provide a different feel from the rest of the salon, which is bright, energetic, funky and loud, said Brandt Laughnan, the salon's business director.
'Very relaxing, very loungy is how we describe it,' said Laughnan, whose wife, Jalena, opened the business in June 2007.
The Wash House is designed to enhance guests' experience, while allowing stylists to extend their creativity to the sink. The salon's 'lemonade treatment,' for example, uses lemon juice squeezed right from the fruit and washed out using sparkling water.
'You're hitting more senses, too. You're not just getting the tingling from the shampoo, you're getting the scent of the lemon,' Laughnan said. 'It's really an out-of-the-box approach to giving the guest the best experience possible.
'We're really trying to go above and beyond, have some fun with it.'
In addition, Blonde & Beyond recently added a hand-detailing area -- offering exfoliation, massage and moisturizing -- and started a blog at blondeandbeyond.blogspot.com to keep customers apprised of all that's going on.
To learn more, visit the salon's Web site at blondeandbeyondsalon.com, or call 843-9300 to make an appointment."
Have a great Paul Mitchell Day!
